Things to consider when choosing the right door profile for your home:
From our wide range of experiences, here is a few tips we like to share.
- What theme or mood do you want people to feel when they walk into that particular room of your home. Is it modern elegance, warm family, coastal chic, minimalistic, or maybe even a connection with nature? A door profile can throw a chunky laid back or a sophisticated modern feel. The cabinet door profile you choose will help create a warm family gather space, or an area for drinks with friends’ kind of mood.
- Do you have lots of large tall doors or very wide drawers, or lots of smaller doors or drawers? This is good to think about as some of our
profiles have larger frames and others have smaller. On smaller sized cabinet doors, a smaller frame is often more desired as it takes away a lot of the busyness that would otherwise be there, and makes the cabinet door look more proportionate in size. Whereas with larger doors and drawers a larger framed profile often suits better as it is more proportionate to the door size. - How do you want your drawer banks to be layed out? At Premier Cabinet Doors we have three options for drawer banks, they are From 1 profile, which is when the profile you have chosen goes over the whole drawer bank, this is a great option, when you have lots of cupboard doors and only a few drawers to give the drawer bank a seamless spot in your kitchen. The next option is ½ Rails, this is when the rails or frame that goes between each drawer is only half making the combination of the bottom frame from the top drawer and the top frame of the drawer underneath into the thickness a
standard frame would be for that profile. This is a great option for drawers that are not very high, ½ rails helps them feel less busy and gives you extra room in the recess to fit the handle you would like. The last option is Full Rails, this is when each drawer has its own individual profile, this option is great for larger drawers or profiles with smaller rails/frames.
- What is the room size that this profile is going into? This is something we like to ask, as a busier profile on lots of doors can often leave a busy feeling in a room, we like to recommend adding an element of a busier profile to an Island or as wall paneling in a small area rather that filling the entire space. This allows for multiple textures and open smooth areas and leaves the busier profiled areas as more of a feature and a center point.
With these considerations in mind, you can start looking at different kitchen cabinet door profiles in our collection and choose the one the suits your style.
